7 @ Kanab & Zion Caynon

Finally in Mormon country! Can't wait!
As we hit the border town Fredonia leaving Arizona, we had the last glimpse of a service station sign: Petrol, guns, ammo and beer! You can't go wrong!

Well now in Utah have to behave. Drove around the town of Kanab on a Sunday arvo which proved pretty lifeless. Spotted a building covered with images looking something like a tourist info. Inside pretty scarce with just a large desk plastered with brochures on the front. The attendant was a small old man with a similar to RiffRaff in Rocky Horror. Like what were we doing in his space, we wanted what...information? Had to prize that from him, piece by piece. Withered up small man. Still he relaxed after a bit but his mannerism was not so, forthcoming.

He told us of a raffle to visit a slot canyon 'the wave' so we ended up in the parks office and were told to visit 8:30 Monday.
Amongst 40 other we were lectured and told of the danger and impeding storm, lack of water, dehydration, being stuck etc all at our own risk. Fill out the form and have a lucky ball raffle.
After all that they pulled out numbered balls and nominated 10 people to visit the next day.

Well we missed out, a move that probably saved our lives, like really, so ended up in Zion Canyon for the day. Wow!
Driving thru the park entrance our yearly pass for $80 is now only $30 in the red after two park visits.
Checkerboard Mesa was the first photo opportunity of a scared rock faced mountain. It paled as we went further into the canyon but caught it on the way out after a small monsoonal shower.
In side the organisation with shuttle buses works a treat, so we travelled to the top of the canyon to Temple of Sinawava along with some of the 3 mill yearly visitors, back to Weeping rock and to Emerald pools before hi tailing it north to catch Bryce park the next day. It was hot around 100 F (while in America) but exhausting but rewarding day.

Adobe Sands motel at Panguitch, is not highlight on our accom schedule.

But close to Bryce Nat Park it's a bed in fact two. Has a fridge, yep no power point and similarly how do we plug in the drip filter?
